EDITORIAL

As Art Editor of Exberliner Magazine (now known as The Berliner) in the 2010s, I was responsible for managing the art section of Germany’s premier English-language publication, boasting a monthly circulation of 20,000 print copies, distributed internationally and throughout Germany.

My tenure coincided with Berlin’s emergence as the global epicenter for contemporary art and shift from German to English as the Berlin art world’s main language in light of its global significance. I was hired to evolve Exberliner’s art section from a "what's on" into a robust pacakage that could stand alongside specialist global art titles while retaining scene cachet and on-the-ground flair through relationships with artists and gallerists.

My editorship established the magazine as the definitive English-language voice of Berlin’s global contemporary art scene, catering both to the international art community and a local English-speaking audience.
